A new edition of the novel, Foler Rakhnno, written by the late Reginald Fernandes, was released by New Age Printers on 16 March. The book was launched by Tomazinho Cardozo, an eminent writer and former Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, alongside Rev Dr Socorro Mendes, Parish Priest of St Anthony Church’s, Siolim.
Other present included Fr Myron Jeson Barreto (manager of New Age Printers & President of the Dalgado Konknni Akademi), Fausto V Da Costa (editor of Gulab magazine) and Salvador (Sally) Fernandes (son of the late author).
Foler Rakhnno, which translates to ‘The Guardian of the Lighthouse’, is a romantic novel first released in 1970. The plot revolves around the Sinquerim lighthouse and a hidden stash of jewels, ending with the main characters claiming the treasure as their own.
Widely known as the ‘Romanxincho Patxai’, Fernandes was a celebrated literary and musical figure. Since the book had gone out of print, and Reginald Fernandes remains a deeply cherished by his fans, the book has now been reprinted.
