Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has warned that electricity connections will be cut for consumers who fail to pay their bills on time, stating that supply will be disconnected if outstanding dues are not cleared within seven days of receiving a disconnection notice.
Previously, consumers would receive a disconnection notice only after failing to pay two consecutive bills, with the warning typically arriving along with the third bill. Now, however, a notice will be issued if a single bill remains unpaid. This notice needs to be cleared within 15 days, failing which, the consumer will receive a disconnection notice.
Announcing the change, Dhavalikar said payments need not be made in person at departmental offices. Instead, consumers can settle their bills through a range of methods, including QR codes and other digital payment options.
