Leader of the Opposition, Yuri Alemao, informs that the Opposition met the Goa Governor and demanded the dismissal of the government. He outlines several grounds for their request.
He alleges brazen violations of multiple articles of the Indian Constitution, as well as violation of the Code of Conduct, and accuses the Speaker of curtailing the Assembly session.
He describes the situation as a “murder of democracy,” pointing out that by-elections are currently being conducted in several other states, while Goa’s processes are being curtailed.
He also criticises the passing of the budget without any debate, and informed that the Opposition had submitted a detailed memorandum to the Governor. He remarks that Goan politicians have been reduced to “jokers,” alleging a breakdown of constitutional governance in the state.
Among other things, MLA Viresh Borkar claims that the session was shortened to avoid exposing the government.
MLAs Venzy Viegas also shares his views.
