No need for Anti-Conversion Bill in Goa: Yuri Alemao

LoP Yuri Alemao said there is 100% no need for an anti-conversion bill, as existing laws already provide strict action against forced or unlawful religious conversions. He accused the government of using the issue to create divisions and disturb Goa's communal harmony, saying people have a constitutional right to follow the religion of their choice and decide what they eat.

Alemao said the government should instead address land and environmental protection, including concerns over Sections 39A and 17(2) of the TCP Act, and allow the Opposition to raise the 10-point charter presented by Chief Justice (Retd) Ferdino Rebello.

He also criticised the removal of Private Members' Day, alleging that the government is denying the Opposition a platform to raise these issues.
