Konkani Roman-script books introduced at Brent Library in London

The initiative was spearheaded by Goan-origin Councillor Joyce Angela De Souza

In a historic development for Konkani in the Roman script, the London Borough of Brent Library in Wembley, UK, has introduced a collection of Konkani books written in the Romi script. The initiative was pioneered by Goan-origin Councillor Joyce Angela De Souza, who proposed the idea before the Brent Council and played a key role in making the collection a reality.

The move gives readers access to Konkani literature in its traditional Roman script and marks an important recognition of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the Konkani-speaking diaspora, particularly the community in and around Wembley.
