The Goa Crime Branch has busted a fake call centre operating from Dukle Elite in St Inez, Panjim, and arrested nine individuals in connection with an international cyber fraud targeting US citizens.
According to police, the accused allegedly posed as loan company agents and used VPNs along with the Eyebeam app to carry out the scam. Victims were reportedly duped into making payments through gift cards, including Apple, Sephora, Macy’s, Xbox and Razer Gold.
Authorities have seized seven laptops, 13 mobile phones and a Maruti Ciaz from the accused. The total value of the seized items is estimated at around Rs 30 lakh.
